The skills

What We Work On

Every player is different. A first-year rec player might spend a month on ball control; a player heading to a travel tryout might want moves, finishing and game speed. We start where they are.

First Touch & Ball Control

Settling the ball with the inside, outside and sole — so it stops where you want it, not three steps away.

Basic

Dribbling & Moves

Close control at speed, then the moves that beat a defender: step-overs, cuts, the pull-back and the Cruyff turn.

Basic → Intermediate

Passing & Receiving

Weight, accuracy and both feet. Open your body before the ball arrives so the next pass is already lined up.

Basic

Shooting

Plant foot, laces, follow through. Placement first, power second — and finishing with the weaker foot.

Basic → Intermediate

Futsal Footwork

Small-space touches from two seasons of FC Dayton futsal: quick feet, sole rolls and fast decisions.

Intermediate

Know the Rules

Throw-ins, offside, fouls and restarts, explained by a player who has done the referee training — no more confusion on game day.

Every level
